A Good WACK!
As women of the new millennium complete with househusbands and high-powered jobs, we tend to take our rights for granted. There was a time though when husbands told wives how to vote and us ladies went stir crazy cleaning Formica countertops at home. The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA’s new show WACK! Art and the Feminist Revolution, which runs through July 16th, reminds us who and what got us to this much advanced point. Centering around feminist artists from 1965 to the early 1980s who used their work to incite change and pose provocative questions, the show will not only be accompanied by lectures and special programs but will also feature a special WACKsite blog designed to encourage dialogue about this highly political issue. Considering that even thirty years later women still don’t have completely equal opportunity, missing this show would just be wack. General Admission: $8, The Geffen Contemporary, 152 N. Central Ave., (213) 621-1727
